If you were off the grid Sunday: Florida State fired head coach Mike Norvell a day after a 36-24 home loss to Clemson left the Seminoles 3-5. Defensive coordinator Tony White and safeties coach Evan Cooper were fired too. Norvell, who led FSU to an undefeated regular season and ACC title in 2023, was in his seventh season.

The bill is steep. FSU owes 85% of what's left on his contract, in full or in monthly installments through 2031, and estimates run from just over $46 million to roughly $50 million. President Richard McCullough called it “a big business decision.” He has hired Daniel Parker of Parker & Associates to lead searches for a football coach and an athletic director at the same time.
