A mill is $1 for every $1,000 of taxable property value, so about $200 a year on a $200,000 home. The levy is estimated to raise $30 million in its first year for teacher and school employee pay, school security, arts and athletics. Both measures help a district that has been grappling with a grim budget and financial crisis.

  • Oversight: citizen advisory committees will review spending on both measures
  • Charter measures needed a simple majority, 50% plus one
  • Failed: the consolidation straw poll and county-over-city ordinances

The one-mill levy starts in 2027 and runs four years

  3. June 2031Last day the one-mill levy continues.
