- ➤ The Jake Gaither Neighborhood Association hosted its first National Night Out at its community center on Saturday, where neighbors gathered for food, activities + local performances. City law enforcement and emergency services helped build community ties during the event. WCTV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Donna Adelson, 74, faces trial tomorrow in Tallahassee on charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy and solicitation related to the 2014 killing of Florida State law professor Dan Markel — investigators say evidence from past trials and recorded communications links her to the murder-for-hire plot. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Florida education department told Leon County it will lose nearly a third of its afterschool funding, leaving a half-million-dollar gap—officials now work with the Children’s Services Council to help cover the shortfall for families. WFSU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tallahassee officials said residents south of Cemetery Road—including those in Woodville Acres, Woodville, Wakulla Station, River Plantation and Saint Marks—must boil water after a Saturday evening water system damage, and the advisory will lift when two days of clean water samples are confirmed. The notice was issued as a precaution even after water service was restored. WCTV

- ➤ Thomasville's 18-year-old Mason Howell advanced to the U.S. Amateur Championship final held at The Olympic Club in San Francisco and faced teen Jackson Herrington in a 36-hole contest on August 17th at 1:15 p.m.—both players earned exemptions to the U.S. Open and likely invitations to the Masters.
